Understand assistant answers about activity¶
HiveAI has source capabilities for reading personal or organization activity history and selected work-item timelines. These can help explain recorded actions or discussions without changing the underlying work.
Draft availability: this page describes inspected backend capabilities and their limits. The connected assistant journey, work-item access checks and continuation behavior still need reconciliation. It does not establish a deployed assistant screen. Start with HiveAI access and availability for organization, permission, provider and budget conditions.
Match the question to the right history¶
| Question | Relevant source | How to interpret the answer |
|---|---|---|
| What actions were recorded for me during a period? | Personal activity history | Recorded actions started by the signed-in person, narrowed by the supported filters. |
| What was recorded across the organization or for one person? | Organization activity history | Requires organization-history access; a person's name or managerial title does not grant it. |
| Which activity filters are available? | History filter choices | Supported vocabulary and historical choices, not proof that matching retained entries exist. |
| What happened around this request, case, project or record? | Work-item timeline | A bounded set of projected events associated with that item. |
| What context accompanies a particular event? | Timeline event detail | Selected event facts, not every field or the current state of the underlying work. |
| What was said in a workflow task discussion? | Task thread | A bounded part of the shared task discussion, including available edit/removal indicators. |
A recorded submission or approval describes that action. It does not establish that a whole request, project, delivery or organization process is complete. Use the relevant source work to establish current responsibility, completion and available actions.
Give enough context¶
For a history question, identify the organization, personal or organization scope, relevant period and work reference. Supported narrowing includes category, action, outcome, kind of related work and text search; organization history can also select one initiating person. The assistant's personal-history path cannot switch to another actor.
For a timeline question, identify the particular work item and its kind. The inspected assistant timeline path does not provide the history date/search filters or the normal timeline's source/category selectors. A task discussion needs the task reference, not an assumption that every event has its own discussion.
These are examples of question scope, not instructions for an unverified screen. The history guide and timeline guide describe the intended Final Screens journeys and their current frontend limits.
Read a limited answer as a limited answer¶
An assistant lookup normally requests up to 25 items and allows at most 50; looking up one event returns one entry. History answers start with the newest matching entries. Work-item feeds and task threads start at their oldest entries. A short timeline answer must not be described as the latest activity merely because it is the first result.
A partial answer means more matching source information may exist. It is not a complete total or an exhaustive review. History filter choices are bounded too: a person or option omitted from an answer is not proof that it is unsupported or absent.
The assistant cannot yet reliably move through every remaining page. Asking for the same answer again can repeat the same limited window. Narrow a history question where useful, or use the authorized source view when its connected implementation is available. Do not rely on an assistant summary as a complete export or investigation record.
Understand the information returned¶
History answers include selected recorded action, category, outcome, time and related-work context. Organization answers can identify the recorded actor. These source tools omit dedicated email, network-address and device fields. Timeline answers omit the raw internal event data and offer selected event or discussion facts.
That selection does not anonymize the result. Descriptions, names, titles, references and discussion text can still contain sensitive business information. Share answers only through an appropriate channel with authorized recipients.
Historical actor details can differ from today's directory. Timeline entries are assembled from recorded events and can change through later delivery, editing or removal. An answer's retrieval time is not proof that every event has arrived, or that no displayed discussion changed afterward. These answers do not currently supply direct navigation links for each item; a work reference still needs to be resolved through the proper product journey.
The assistant reads described here do not repair missing history, change retention, delete entries, send a reply or approve the underlying work. Those operations have separate permissions and workflows.
Recover from an unavailable or incomplete answer¶
| Result | Useful next step |
|---|---|
| Information is unavailable | Confirm the organization and intended scope, then follow the approved support route if the problem persists. The message alone does not distinguish a permission issue from a failed source read. |
| No matching history is returned | Review the period and filters, then consider capture, delivery and retention. Do not conclude that no business action occurred. |
| Only part of the history or discussion is returned | Keep the limitation with the answer. Narrow the question or review the authorized source view; do not present the answer as exhaustive. |
| A related item cannot be opened | Ask the responsible owner or support to verify access. A summary does not grant access to that work. |
| The summary appears stale or contradictory | Compare the known work reference with current source state before making or repeating a decision. |
| You need evidence for a business decision | Preserve the question, scope, period and stated limitations, and ask an authorized reviewer to verify the source records. |
Managers and executives should use activity evidence to investigate a defined question. Activity counts and short assistant summaries do not measure hours worked, employee performance or complete transaction volume. Permission to inspect history is not a basis for inventing rankings or conclusions about individuals.
Access enforcement for individual work items and paging still need completion before this assistant journey can be accepted for use. Recording and retention limits are explained in how history is recorded and the history lifecycle guide. Initial reader review remains open.
