Find conversations and work in HiveComms

Use Search in HiveComms to find an inbox item, conversation, channel, workstream or meeting summary, then continue in its original context. Search helps you locate discussion and updates; it does not carry out the work described in them.

Availability: These steps describe the intended final design. The current app preview shows sample results and a Search button without a connected search action. Its result links open a sample conversation view. Confirm that search and result navigation are connected in your workspace before relying on them.

What this search can find

Area What is matched
Inbox The title and summary of items addressed to you, plus their stored work reference.
Direct messages and groups The other person's name or group name, and the latest message preview.
Channels and workstreams The conversation name, latest message preview and stored work references.
Meetings The title, summary and reference of meeting updates available to you.

This is not a search of every message in a conversation. An older message can contain the words you entered without appearing in these results. Attached file contents are not searched by this operation. Your connected work mailbox is a separate area.

Results depend on your workspace, conversation membership, available updates and relevant HiveComms access. A result does not grant additional permission to the underlying work item or meeting. Current permissions must still allow you to open and act on it.

Search and open a result

  1. Open the correct workspace, then HiveComms and Search.
  2. Enter a recognizable name, title or a few words from the latest update in Search HiveComms.
  3. The final design offers All results, Inbox, Direct messages, Channels, Workstreams and Meetings. Choose the relevant area when those controls are available, or start with All results.
  4. Select Search.
  5. Select a result and review Selected result. Check its title, where it was found, where it opens and its last activity.
  6. Select Open result to continue in context. Confirm the workspace and item title again before taking an action there.

The area filters are part of the intended design, but filtering the complete result set is not yet verified in the connected implementation. Check the actual result type rather than assuming a selected filter proves complete coverage of that area.

Use Clear search to begin another search in the intended experience. The inspected final screen does not establish keyboard shortcuts or an older-results control.

Understand where results lead

Result Expected context and current limit
Direct message or group The matching conversation. Check its people before sending anything.
Channel The matching channel conversation. A channel name does not grant access to related records.
Workstream The discussion associated with that work, sometimes focused on a task or other part of it. Verify the owning work item's current state.
Meeting The associated meeting context. A meeting search result is not permission to enter a live session or open a recording.
Inbox Its linked workstream or meeting when that relationship is available; other results currently identify the inbox item itself. A direct link to the underlying work is not guaranteed for every inbox result.

If the result opens an unexpected sample conversation or loses the selected item, do not proceed as though it is the right destination. Return to the known work area and report the navigation problem.

Read results and counts carefully

Results are shown by recent activity among the items fetched. The list can contain different entries about the same work, such as an inbox reminder and a workstream discussion. Those are not separate business tasks merely because they appear as two results.

The current combined search does not provide a verified total match count or a complete-results indicator. Treat a displayed count as the items shown, unless the connected experience explicitly establishes a broader total. A short or empty page does not prove that no other matching work exists.

Pinned inbox items, access filtering and changes during paging can affect which items reach a page. A result's activity time is not necessarily the work item's creation date, deadline or latest authoritative decision. Open the owning item when those details matter.

Recover when search is unclear

What happens What to try
No results appear Confirm the workspace, check spelling and try the conversation or work title. If the words were in an older message, open the known conversation instead.
A person or conversation is missing Check that you are still a participant and have the relevant access. Ask an administrator about access changes; do not use another person's account.
An expected inbox item or meeting is missing Open the owning area directly if available. Search summaries can be incomplete or delayed.
The entire search fails Retry after checking your connection. One unavailable source can prevent the combined result from loading; use a known work area for an urgent task.
Results look duplicated Compare their area and destination. An inbox reminder and a conversation about the same work are distinct entries.
A result opens the wrong place or access is refused Stop before acting there, confirm the intended item and use your approved support channel. A search result does not override current permissions.
The count or later page seems incomplete Do not use search as an audit or deletion check. Ask support to investigate the missing item with its known reference and approximate time.

When requesting help, include the workspace, search terms if appropriate, result title/type, approximate time and visible error. Avoid copying private message contents or file links into a public support channel.

See your work inbox, conversation membership and message and file guidance for the next action after finding the right place. Managers and business readers should use the owning workflow, case, project or record for authoritative counts and decisions.
