Use the assistant with Messaging¶
HiveAI's Messaging integration can read selected collaboration information and prepare supported changes for review. It works with the existing conversations, inbox and workstreams; an assistant result does not replace the underlying work or its owner.
Availability: These are the inspected backend integration capabilities. A connected assistant approval journey and its final-screen companions still need verification. This page explains scope and recovery without inventing screen controls. Use the ordinary Messaging guides for the documented conversation and inbox journeys.
Understand the information behind an answer¶
| Information | What the assistant receives | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Recent conversations, direct messages and channels | A first page of summaries, last-message information and unread counts. | A search of every message or every older conversation. |
| Workstreams | Collaboration summaries, unread counts and whether official updates or discussions exist. | The complete business record, every task or every workstream conversation. |
| Your inbox | A first page of entries and their recorded status. | A complete list of pending work, or all the read/unread details shown by the ordinary inbox. |
| People | A first page of names, job/department information and availability. | Permission to add every listed person to any conversation. |
| Meeting summaries | Your projected meeting information. | A fresh meeting-provider check or a guaranteed usable link to the authoritative meeting. |
| A selected conversation | Recent message text, sender, recorded delivery state and whether an attachment exists. | Attachment contents, a file download or proof that a recipient understood the message. |
| Participation and available actions | Recorded membership and the relevant source capabilities. | A permanent permission grant or proof that every later business check will pass. |
Reads request between one and 50 items. These adapters generally return the first page without a continuation or a clear warning that more information exists. Missing information may lie outside that page, selection or search scope. A blank answer is not proof that the conversation, message or work does not exist.
An attachment indicator cannot support a summary of the file's contents. Open the actual file through an authorized source when its contents matter. Likewise, a recent assistant response does not make a saved meeting projection or an old message newly verified.
Review the proposed change¶
The integration supports proposals to send text, mark an inbox item read or unread, resolve or reopen it, start a direct/group conversation, create a channel or workstream thread, link a channel to source work, and add or remove a participant.
For a supported proposal, review the organization, destination, people, complete message or conversation name, intended state change and any work association. For workstreams, check the lane and the selected work or task. Approval-related discussions can have a restricted audience; the assistant must not treat a requested participant list as permission to broaden it.
Text sending through this integration does not attach a file. Mentioning a file in the message does not upload or include it. Messages still face the normal Messaging validation, including the 2,000-character text limit. The assistant preview's input limit is broader, so a preview alone does not guarantee that a long message will send.
Previews carry a five-minute expiry. The connected approval and expiry flow still needs verification. For a new attempt, relevant access and conversation or workstream state are checked again, with different checks for different actions. A supported inbox proposal, for example, does not mean the entry has already changed.
If the conversation or work changed, inspect its current state before reviewing a fresh proposal. Do not assume that an old approval remains appropriate after people, access or the intended audience change.
Interpret completion carefully¶
| Result | Meaning to confirm |
|---|---|
| A message was sent | Messaging accepted the send command. Recipient delivery and reading are separate states. |
| A conversation or workstream action completed | Check the returned conversation and its current audience. Some source workflows can reuse an existing conversation. |
| An inbox action completed | The entry's attention state changed. Resolving it does not complete the underlying business task. |
| An earlier result is shown again | It is a saved result from the original attempt, not necessarily a fresh read of current conversation or delivery state. |
| The result is pending, unavailable or missing | Confirm the original attempt before initiating another change. A lost reply does not establish that nothing happened. |
The source can retain an unavailable outcome as a completed action result. Completion of the attempt and successful completion of the requested business change are different facts.
Recover without duplicating the action¶
Keep the original action reference and check the relevant conversation, participant list or inbox entry through an available authorized interface. Ask support to reconcile the original result when a reply was lost or an outcome conflicts with current state. Repeating the instruction as a new action can create another attempt; do not keep submitting until a success label appears.
If an answer seems incomplete, identify the selected conversation/work, search term and approximate message time. If an action failed, provide the intended destination, change and approximate attempt time. Share these details privately; do not post message bodies, file links or confidential work information in a public support channel.
For managers, an assistant completion label is not evidence of task approval, verified contribution, recipient understanding or meeting completion. Confirm the actual source outcome before using it in operational decisions. Read message and receipt limits, workstream behavior and verified contributions for those separate meanings.
