Understand verified work responses and recognition

A useful work conversation can help somebody complete a task, resolve an issue or make a decision. Zerohive has a separate process for recording a response as evidence of that contribution. Sending a message, receiving a read receipt and receiving recognition mean different things.

Availability: This guide describes the inspected backend verification and notification behavior. The current frontend still uses sample conversations. A connected verification journey, recognition details and organization-specific availability remain under verification. No reviewed screen establishes a button that lets you verify a response or claim an award yourself.

What each record means

Record or signal What it establishes
A message was sent A response was accepted in the conversation. It does not establish that the response helped complete work.
A delivered or read receipt A separate communication status was recorded. It does not verify the response's usefulness or outcome.
A verified work response The work-related verification identifies a stored message, its author, a different verifier, the related work and an outcome with a supporting reference.
Contribution evidence Information about the verified response is prepared for the contribution system. This is not a score, award or payment.
A recognition alert HiveComms has received an announcement addressed to you. Review the underlying recognition before relying on its meaning or fulfilment.

The inspected Messaging implementation does not calculate contribution from message volume. Sending more messages, collecting read receipts or staying visibly active is not a documented way to earn recognition. The response-verification path records the message author as the person who helped enable the work; it does not automatically credit every participant or the verifier.

Read messages and receipt meaning for the communication statuses, and comments and work updates for personal inbox attention.

What must match the work

A response must belong to a workstream or a channel connected to the relevant work. An ordinary direct conversation is not enough for this verification path. The claimed author must match the author of the stored message. The verifier must be somebody else and an active participant in that conversation when verification is processed.

For a linked channel, the current connection must still point to that channel and the right work. If the channel has been reassigned or disconnected, an older response may no longer match the current connection. A visible message alone does not establish current authority to verify it.

The verification also needs the related work, outcome, supporting reference and time. These checks establish relationships and required information. They do not, by themselves, prove that the supporting material is correct, accessible or sufficient for your organization's decision. The work owner remains responsible for the underlying outcome and verification process.

One inspected source can supply communication evidence from completed document work, such as a review, signature, release or processing outcome, when the necessary communication and verifier information is present. This does not mean every document completion automatically verifies a chat response, or that every type of work has a connected verification journey.

Corrections and repeated updates

An identical verification can be received again without creating another contribution revision. A changed verification keeps its identity and advances its revision, so it can correct earlier evidence. A revision is a change to the same verified response, not an additional completed task.

Current behavior still requires careful handling of delayed or conflicting corrections. A later-arriving update is not automatically the most accurate statement of the work. Changes to the conversation audience or its work connection can also affect whether a repeated verification is accepted.

If you notice an incorrect author, outcome or work link, ask the work owner or support team to reconcile the original work and the verification. Provide the work and conversation references and approximate time. Reposting the message or submitting it repeatedly does not repair the original evidence.

Read recognition alerts carefully

Recognition announcements are a separate incoming path. A received announcement can create an item in your Alerts lane using the recognition's display name. That item helps you notice the announcement; it does not explain the rules used to grant it or establish that a reward has been delivered.

The inspected path does not prove that every verified response produces recognition, that every recognition is visible in the app, or that selecting an alert opens connected recognition details. Those journeys and their access rules need separate verification. Repeated alerts should not be counted as separate awards without checking the underlying recognition.

If you can access the recognition's owning record, check its recipient, definition, current state and any fulfilment information there. Otherwise, ask the responsible administrator or support team to confirm it. Resolving or marking the inbox item read changes your personal attention state; it does not approve, revoke or fulfil recognition.

Recover when evidence or recognition looks wrong

Situation Next step
A helpful message has no contribution record Check whether the owning work process actually issued a verification. Sending or reading the message is insufficient.
A verification is rejected after access or channel changes Ask the work owner to check current participation and the channel's work connection. Do not recreate the work or message just to bypass the mismatch.
The author or related work is incorrect Report the specific message and work references for correction of the original verification.
A correction appears to restore older information Compare the actual work outcome and the sequence of corrections with support. An arrival time alone cannot settle which version is right.
A recognition alert repeats Confirm the recognition identity before counting another award. Repeated attention items can describe the same announcement.
An alert's destination is missing or unavailable Ask the responsible administrator to locate the owning recognition. An alert does not grant access to its details.
An alert says recognition was earned but fulfilment is unclear Verify the current fulfilment record with its owner; the inbox wording does not establish delivery or payment.

Share only the references and context needed by authorized support. Use an approved private channel if the investigation needs message content or supporting documents.

If a verified response has not reached a downstream view, read contribution evidence recovery for the distinction between a correction and replay, period boundaries and support coordination.

For managers and executives

Treat verified responses as one kind of evidence about work. This path does not supply a complete assessment of quality, effort, business impact or an employee's performance. It does not establish a financial value or a guaranteed productivity gain.

Review the owning work, the verifier's responsibility and the current correction history before using the evidence in a decision. Keep recognition issuance and fulfilment separate from inbox activity. The absence of an alert does not prove the absence of a contribution, and an alert count is not a measure of completed work.
