Staging draft Work in progress · For review; coverage and acceptance incomplete

Ask HiveAI and follow a saved request

Use this guide to ask a question, understand progress and recover safely when an answer or action is interrupted. It follows the intended HiveAI 06 Final Screens journey. Examples describe what the screens mean; they are not evidence that your environment has delivered those screens.

Current availability: The inspected account application displays HiveAI as Not ready yet and cannot open a standalone HiveAI client. These are intended steps for a compatible client when available. Backend support exists, but this guide has not been accepted through a live browser/provider walkthrough or the initial user's review. See access and availability first.

Before you begin

Use the correct organization and your own account. You need conversation access, an enabled and approved AI service, and any permissions needed for the information or action you request. Available credits and organizational controls are checked separately from access to the screen.

Decide what you want to understand or prepare. Identify the record, correspondence or guidance that matters, and include enough context for a useful answer. HiveAI can make mistakes; check important information before using it. A question does not grant access to restricted source material.

Start a conversation

  1. From the HiveAI welcome page or the left sidebar, select New Conversation. On a phone, open Menu, then choose New conversation.
  2. Check the organization shown above the conversation.
  3. Enter your request in Your question. For example: “Summarize the outstanding decisions in the project handover record and cite the supporting information.”
  4. Where available, use Summarize correspondence, Summarize records or Find help as a starting point. Review and complete the question before sending it. Suggestions depend on your access; their absence does not mean you cannot type your own question.
  5. Optionally estimate the question as described below.
  6. Select the send arrow. Wait for confirmation that the question has been saved, then follow its progress.

Creating a conversation and submitting a question are separate operations. Starting Your Conversation means the conversation is being prepared. Saving your question… means the submitted question has not yet been confirmed as saved. Neither state is a completed answer.

If Conversation Could Not Start appears, the intended screen retains your question and offers another attempt. If a question might already have been saved, use its recovery path before submitting it again.

The maximum instruction length is 32,768 characters. Shorten a question that exceeds the limit. Even a question within that limit can require a more focused request if its history and supporting context are too large.

Estimate a question

  1. Type or select a question. The empty composer does not show an estimate.
  2. Select Estimate this question.
  3. Wait for the estimate and read its explanation. While it loads, the intended screen allows you to keep editing.
  4. If you change the question, use Estimate this question again. Estimate Needs Updating means the earlier amount no longer describes the current text.
  5. Decide whether to send the current question. An unavailable estimate does not itself prevent sending; the actual access, policy and credit checks still apply.

Estimated maximum is an estimate for the supplied question and output allowance. It is not the final charge or your enforced spending limit. History and supporting information can change the work involved. Example amounts shown in designs are illustrative, not a price list.

Read progress without confusing it with an outcome

The latest question and its response belong together. An earlier answer in the conversation is not the result of a question that has just been saved.

What you see Meaning and next step
Saved The instruction is stored. Wait for its next state
Preparing the next step… HiveAI is preparing the request; no completed result is implied
In progress Work is being processed. A completed-step count describes saved progress, not necessarily the whole request
Answer in progress Only part of the response is displayed. Wait for the final state before treating it as complete
Waiting for your answer Respond to the specific current clarification
Waiting for approval Review the proposed change and decide whether to approve it
Waiting for a required step Complete the protected step the request identifies
Completed This saved request finished. Review its actual result and any related operation status
Partly completed Some work finished and some did not. Inspect what completed before deciding what remains
Could not complete Read the saved status and explanation. Do not assume no work or cost occurred
Cancelled Pending work was stopped. It does not reverse work already completed
Checking the outcome A final operation or cost result is uncertain. Check the same saved request again; avoid a duplicate submission

A completed decision can also mean that you rejected a proposal and nothing was dispatched for that proposed change. Read the explanation, not just the status badge.

Review the answer and its sources

The detailed source-inspection guide explains the designed source disclosure and current-authority limits. Reading published knowledge covers original versus current versions and protected document recovery; its complete screen journey remains pending.

  1. Wait for the current answer's outcome. Treat incomplete text as incomplete.
  2. Read the answer, including warnings, qualifications and any AI-generated or confidentiality marking.
  3. Expand the source count, such as 1 source, to see the supporting item. The mobile design expands the source details in the conversation.
  4. Check the named source, relevant version or freshness information and the original content where your access allows it.
  5. Review a draft before using it. Generated wording is not proof that a memo was sent, a record was changed or a decision was approved.

The current delivery path requires usable supporting citations. The design's Completed without sources example is not currently a supported promise of an unsourced answer. If sources or access change, an answer may be withheld or disappear from available history. Ask for appropriate access or current supporting information; do not bypass the restriction by copying an old answer elsewhere.

Answer a clarification

  1. Read the current question. For example, Which Ada do you mean? can show two people with different departments.
  2. Review each option's identifying information. Choose the person or item you intend, not just the first matching name.
  3. Select one of the current choices. The request continues with that exact selection if it is still available and authorized.
  4. Wait for the new part's progress. A selection is not itself a completed business action.

The next-question composer may be unavailable while this response is waiting for a choice. Use the current clarification rather than starting an unrelated instruction in its place.

If Answer time expired or Choice changed appears, select Refresh request and review the latest saved step. An old choice cannot be reused. Refreshing checks the current request; it does not promise to recreate an expired set of choices. If no usable choice remains, follow the displayed instruction to have HiveAI prepare the selection again.

For dates such as “tomorrow,” HiveAI needs a verified profile timezone. If it asks you to set a valid timezone or clarify a date, resolve that before proceeding. A timezone interprets dates and times; it is not a voice or accent setting.

Review approval and required-step requests

When the conversation says a proposed change is waiting for your decision, review what will change, which item it affects and the current proposal details. Approve only the change you intend and have authority to approve, or reject it. A request that changed or expired needs current details before a decision can be accepted.

After approval, continue following the saved request and the source operation's result. Approval is not a completion receipt. The present guide covers this handoff; the detailed proposal and business-operation guides remain separate documentation work.

When a protected step is required, use the action offered for that step and complete its own confirmation or verification. Returning to the conversation or typing “done” does not prove that the step was completed. HiveAI needs a valid completion result for the same current request.

Stop remaining work

  1. On an active request, select Stop remaining work when that action is available.
  2. Read the confirmation: completed work remains in place while unfinished work is asked to stop.
  3. Confirm Stop remaining work.
  4. Read the saved result. It may be Cancelled, Partly completed or Checking the outcome, depending on work already accepted and costs still being checked.

Stopping is not an undo command, a promise of a refund or proof that an external operation was prevented. Do not submit a replacement while the original outcome is uncertain. Access and retention rules still govern whether older content can be displayed.

Recover after a lost connection

  1. Keep the original conversation and request in view where possible.
  2. If Connection lost, Could not complete or a similar recovery message offers Check request, select it.
  3. Wait while Checking your saved request… appears.
  4. Read the current outcome. If it completed, review that answer rather than asking for it again. If it is still running, allow it to continue. If only part completed, establish what remains before starting more work.
  5. If Checking the outcome persists, contact support with the request reference and approximate time. Avoid repeatedly creating new requests for the same change.

Reading saved status and reconnecting to saved progress do not submit a new instruction. Selecting Send for another question can create additional work and usage. A browser disconnect does not prove the background request stopped.

Earlier progress is unavailable here means the detailed event history cannot be replayed. Use Refresh status for the current saved state. The status can remain available even when the original instruction or earlier text is no longer available. This does not guarantee that every deleted or inaccessible conversation can still be opened.

If Your workspace access changed appears, select Check workspace access and resolve the account or organization restriction before returning. Do not continue an old approval under a different organization or reuse a stale choice.

Current workspace access includes the applied subscription plan and its covered period. A saved conversation, a previously valid session or a positive AI credit balance does not override a workspace restriction. Ask an authorized administrator to check subscription access and the actual restriction or pause; payment is not the remedy for every cause.

When access cannot currently be verified, preserve the original conversation and request reference. An interrupted response does not show whether already dispatched work completed or incurred usage. After access is restored, check the original status before sending a replacement instruction or approving another cost.

Understand usage while work is uncertain

Read the cost label together with its part number. Costs for part 1 refers to that part, not every request in the conversation. Continuing a clarification or another deliberate step can create another part with its own accounting.

Final usage unavailable or Final usage is still being checked is not zero usage. A lost or withheld answer can still have a charge if provider work occurred. In the implemented unrecoverable-provider case, the reserved maximum can be settled once while the answer is withheld; recovery does not automatically repeat the provider request.

When a result reports both credits used and credits released, the released amount is unused reserved credit returned to availability. For a disputed or unexplained result, ask support to reconcile the original request. A failed response alone does not establish eligibility for an adjustment.

Return to an earlier conversation

  1. Choose its entry in the left history area. On a phone, open Menu, select the entry, then return to the conversation.
  2. Check that it is the correct conversation and organization.
  3. Wait for the available messages to load. Use Try Again if the conversation could not be opened.
  4. Read any access, context or AI-information notice before entering a follow-up question.

History is a bounded recent list. The current service returns up to 100 recent conversations per request and has no continuation cursor for browsing the entire archive. The intended descriptive sidebar titles are ahead of the current create service's generic title. Do not rely on a question-derived title being available in the unfinished client.

Read-Only Conversation allows available messages to be read but requires a new conversation for another question. Start With the Latest AI Information also directs you to start a new conversation. If the conversation began From a record, access to that record is checked again when you ask another question. Record unavailable must be resolved through the source's access and availability rules.

Only a bounded recent history is supplied to the model. If an earlier fact is essential, restate it accurately in the new question or point to the accessible source. The visible transcript is not a promise of unlimited model memory.

Troubleshoot the next step

Situation What to do
HiveAI says Not ready yet in the product chooser Ask about delivery of a compatible client. Signing in repeatedly or buying credits cannot implement the missing frontend
Suggestions fail to load or none are offered Write your own question; retry suggestions only if useful
The question is too long Shorten it; include the key objective and relevant source
The estimate is unavailable or stale Retry the estimate or deliberately proceed without one, subject to the usual checks
The conversation cannot be opened Retry once and check access; contact support if it persists
The embedded record or a source is unavailable Resolve access or ask about a current accessible source
A selection, approval or protected step expired Refresh the saved request and obtain current choices or details
Only part of the work completed Identify the completed actions and remaining work before another submission
Progress history is unavailable Read the current saved status; do not assume the operation never happened
The outcome or usage remains uncertain Ask support about the original request before repeating it

For support, provide the organization, approximate time, visible status, request reference if available, and whether the problem followed sending, a clarification, approval, cancellation or reconnect. Use the organization's support channel for sensitive information and include only the content needed to investigate.

Use the speech guide for the intended microphone, transcript review, spoken-choice and playback journey. It distinguishes speech processing from the business request and states the current delivery limits.
